FAQ Projector Ceiling Lift – Load, Drop, Installation, Control
The most frequently asked questions about our motorised projector and ceiling lifts – choosing a model, ceiling space, installation and control. All lifts are developed and manufactured at our site in Hamburg, Germany.
Which projectors are the ceiling lifts suitable for?
The Ultra-Compact L carries up to 15 kg, all other models (Ultra-Compact XL, JUMBO 60/70/80 × 50, BA 60 × 60) up to 20 kg. Besides weight, the drop-through opening is decisive: the projector including cables must fit through the opening of the base unit – the dimensions are listed for every model.
Which drop do I need?
The drop is the travel below the ceiling and is selectable at 60, 80, 150 or 230 cm. For normal room heights 60–80 cm is sufficient; for high ceilings, cinemas or auditoriums 150 or 230 cm bring the projector to the ideal projection height.
How much space do I need in the ceiling?
Housing sizes range from 50 × 30 cm (MINI) to 96.5 × 55 cm (JUMBO 80 × 50). For shallow ceiling voids there is the Ultra-Compact series with low profile; the BA 60 × 60 fits exactly into one 600 × 600 mm ceiling tile and has a motor rotated by 90° for a particularly low installation height.
How is the lift installed?
The lift is screwed to a load-bearing ceiling via its upper plate (threaded rods recommended for concrete ceilings). Installation is done by two people; the 230 V connection must be made by a qualified electrician. A detailed installation manual is included and available as a PDF download.
How is the lift controlled?
Via a standard roller-shutter/blind switch, by radio remote control (radio remote set) or via smart-home systems such as KNX, GIRA, Apple Home, Alexa or HomeLink. The upper and lower end positions are set directly on the motor.
Is the radio set included?
No, the radio remote set (hand transmitter with Up/Stop/Down plus receiver for the ceiling box) is ordered separately. It is plug-and-play for the 230 V tubular motor and ideal for retrofitting without a wall switch.
Can I clad the ceiling opening?
Yes. The underside of the base plate is clad e.g. with a plasterboard panel that closes flush with the ceiling when retracted. Materials should meet EN 13501-1 (B-s1), and the lift's load capacity must not be exceeded including the cladding.
How loud is the lift?
The 230 V tubular motor runs whisper-quiet and smoothly; the mechanism uses Igus plain bearings and CNC-milled rails. A thermal switch protects the motor in case of a blockage.
What is the ceiling lift MINI for?
The MINI (50 × 30 cm, 6 mm aluminium, up to 15 kg) is our smallest lift – for spotlights, LED technology, speakers, stage equipment and small projectors that should disappear invisibly into the ceiling.
Are custom versions available?
Yes. The lifts are developed, produced and assembled at our site in Hamburg; special sizes, other load capacities and customer-specific versions are available on request.
Where do you ship and what about warranty?
We ship throughout Germany, the EU, Switzerland and many other countries. Statutory warranty applies; spare parts, advice and service come directly from the manufacturer.
