Most of our bollards stand in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. This one stands on the other side of the world: in Japan. A customer there chose retractable security bollards made of stainless steel V4A (316) from Braun Antriebe to secure the access to a parking area – manufactured at our site in Seevetal near Hamburg, shipped to Japan and installed there on site.
When lowered, only the lids lie in the asphalt, and the vehicle simply rolls over them. On the right of the picture is the equipment cabinet with compressor and control unit.
Why a customer in Japan buys from a manufacturer in northern Germany
Japan has a strong industry of its own – anyone there who orders a bollard from Germany does not do so out of convenience. Two points tipped the balance, both of which are missing from many systems on the market: a barrier that cannot be tampered with, and technology with nothing sensitive in the ground. Especially for a system with no service technician just round the corner, this counts twice over.
Sabotage-proof: cut lines open nothing
With some bollards, it is enough to interrupt the supply or put weight on the bollard head for it to give way. Our bollards are built differently. When raised, each bollard engages mechanically at the top via a locking bolt. From that moment on, it can neither be pushed down nor lowered uncontrollably by force. If the compressed air line is cut, only the air escapes – the bolt holds, the bollard stays up, the access stays closed. For power failures, too, the system can be set so that the bollards stay raised.
Compressed air: only stainless steel in the ground
Our bollards work pneumatically. The bollard itself contains a stainless steel cylinder – no motor, no circuit board, no limit switch, no heater. The compressor, valves and control unit stand in an equipment cabinet next to the access. The bollards are sealed to IP69 and designed for temperatures down to −35 °C; rain, humidity and heat do not affect the cylinder. This makes the system very low-maintenance. And should a valve need replacing after years, this is done in the cabinet on a quick-release coupling – without special tools and without opening the surface.
Installation with video support
Our bollards are delivered ready for installation: installation sleeve, bollard, pre-assembled hose and cable bundle and fully wired control unit. This makes installation possible even for companies that have never set a bollard before – whether in Bavaria or in Japan. We support the installation by photo and video and are available via WhatsApp for any questions.
