Anyone who lives on Sylt knows the problem: parking space is scarce on the island – and every year it gets noticeably tighter. But what really drove us to despair were the strangers' cars on our private parking space. Especially in the season, our driveway was blocked ever more brazenly: day visitors who only wanted to pop to the beach “for a moment” stood on our property for hours. Signs and friendly notes behind the windscreen wiper changed nothing.

At some point it was clear: we needed a solution that really secures our parking space – not one that merely appeals to people's good sense. While searching for a retractable bollard, we came across Braun Antriebe, and the decision was made quickly.

Here on the North Sea in particular, the material was important to us: salty sea air, wind and weather take their toll on many things – the bollard made of stainless steel V4A (316) is made for this, because it is highly corrosion-resistant. On top of that, the pneumatic drive is very low-maintenance and reliable, whatever the weather.

In everyday life the bollard is wonderfully uncomplicated: at the push of a button it rises out of the ground and our parking space is closed – no strange car gets onto it any more. When we come home ourselves, it lowers completely into the ground within seconds. The integrated blue LED lighting makes it clearly visible at dusk too and suits the island style beautifully.

Since the installation we have not had a single illegal parker. No annoyance, no arguments, no waiting for the towing service – our parking space finally belongs to us again. We can recommend the retractable bollard without reservation to everyone on Sylt and on the coast who wants to protect their parking space.
