Fixed bollards
Fixed vs. retractable bollards
Fixed bollards may seem like a worthwhile investment at first glance if you no longer want to worry about unwanted U-turns on your property, unauthorized parking, car theft, or smash-and-grab burglaries. As said: at first glance. Because on closer inspection, several negative points become apparent that fixed bollards inevitably bring with them. Which these are specifically and why you should rather opt for retractable alternatives, we will reveal to you below.
Fixed bollards – flexibility is something else
Fixed bollards are, as the name suggests, firmly anchored in the ground. Once installed, they block the way not only for unauthorized traffic participants but also for you. They are – to put it drastically – a decision forever. This becomes problematic when the area previously secured by the bollards needs to be temporarily accessible. In this case, the bollards anchored in the ground must be completely removed – usually a costly undertaking.
Also not exactly appealing visually: fixed bollards
Bollards primarily have a purely functional role – of course. But is this a reason to completely disregard their appearance when manufacturing the systems? Many seem to think so, at least when you look at the seemingly endless range of different bollards. Most of them are anything but attractive and quickly become an eyesore on the respective premises. Retractable bollards, on the other hand, can be easily "hidden" when they are not needed.
