A projector delivers the big picture – but it is rarely nice to look at. Screwed firmly to the ceiling, it gets in the way, gathers dust and, when switched off, looks more like a piece of equipment than part of your living room. This is exactly where a concealed projector ceiling lift comes in: it lowers the projector only when you need it and then makes it disappear back into the ceiling.
We have been building these lifts for years in our own workshop near Hamburg. Here we have put together what really matters and what you should know before you buy.
Fixed bracket or concealed lift?
A fixed ceiling bracket is the budget option. It works, but it has two drawbacks: the projector stays visible, and it collects dust because it hangs in the open. A concealed lift costs more, but when not in use the projector is completely out of sight, behind a flush panel in the ceiling. In a living room, home cinema, meeting room or training room, that is often the deciding factor.
The rule of thumb is simple: if the projector should disappear as soon as the film or presentation is over, you need a lift.

Before you buy: ceiling, travel and weight
Three things decide which model is right:
- How is your ceiling built? Suspended ceiling, grid ceiling (the typical 60×60 tiles) or solid concrete – there is a suitable model for each. For grid ceilings we built the BA 60×60 with a side-mounted, rotated motor so that it fits particularly flat.
- How far should the projector come down? Travel is available from 60 cm to 230 cm – how much you need depends on the ceiling height and the desired projection height.
- How heavy is your device? Depending on the model, our lifts carry 1–15 kg (ceiling lift MINI), 1–20 kg (Ultra-compact L) or 1–25 kg (Ultra-compact XL, JUMBO series, BA 60×60). That is enough even for heavy, high-brightness laser projectors.
One point is often overlooked: the space above the ceiling. If the void is shallow, choose a compact lift – otherwise it simply will not fit.
Control: as easy as a roller shutter
You do not need to be an electronics expert to operate a ceiling lift. It runs on a perfectly ordinary roller shutter or blind switch: up, down, done. If you like, you can integrate it into your smart home – KNX, Loxone, Homematic, Gira, Apple Home or Alexa, no problem at all. If you want the projector to come and go conveniently via a handheld remote, that is possible too: however, the radio receiver and radio transmitter are not included in the delivery and are available separately.
Installation: what to expect
With a little DIY skill, most customers install the lift themselves. Only the final 230-volt connection should be made by an electrician. The process in brief:
- Decide on the installation position and check the ceiling void.
- Fix the lift to the ceiling or supporting structure – a second false ceiling is not required.
- Mount the projector inside or underneath the lift.
- Have an electrician make the 230 V connection and integrate the controls.
- Set the end positions. That’s it.
The lift is supplied pre-assembled and ready to connect, including drive motor, electronics housing and cables; the radio receiver and radio transmitter are available separately. Illustrated instructions are included, and if you get stuck anywhere, our team will help you free of charge – usually a quick photo via WhatsApp is all it takes.
Which model for whom?
In our ceiling lifts category you will find the right device for every situation:
- Ultra-compact series – for shallow ceilings and little space in the void, ideal for small to medium-sized projectors.
- JUMBO series – for large projectors and high-brightness laser projectors up to 25 kg.
- BA 60×60 – designed specifically for grid ceilings, with the motor rotated by 90° for particularly flat installation.
All models are made by us in Germany, run whisper-quiet and can be integrated into your smart home.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a suspended ceiling?
No. Thanks to their low installation depth, the lifts fit even in a shallow void, and for grid ceilings there is the 60×60 model. If you wish, you can clad the underside with plasterboard – then the lift disappears completely.
How heavy can my projector be?
That depends on the model: Ultra-compact L 1–20 kg, Ultra-compact XL, JUMBO series and BA 60×60 each 1–25 kg, the ceiling lift MINI 1–15 kg. Even heavy laser projectors are no problem.
Is the lift noisy?
Barely audible. The 230 V tubular motor runs quietly, and the guide system ensures smooth, gentle movement.
